At Service Paws, we value commitment, reliability, and accountability. To ensure smooth operations and a positive environment for all Handlers, the following attendance policy is in place for both individual classes and group classes.

Allowed Absences

● Handlers are allowed up to 10 absences per calendar year.
● Absences beyond this limit may result in a review of the participant’s standing in the program, which could lead to probation or removal.
● In the event the participant is sick and is able to do a virtual class that day, we will not count that as an absence. We will allow 4 of these per year.

Notification Requirements
● Handlers must notify Christi Christiansen as soon as possible if they are unable toattend a scheduled session.
● Notifications should be made via phone call or text at least 12 hours, unless in cases of emergency.

No-Call, No-Show Policy
● A no-call, no-show is defined as an absence without prior notification.
● Two (2) no-call, no-show incidents will result in immediate removal from the program.

Tardiness
● Handlers who arrive more than 15 minutes late may be marked as absent for that session.
● Excessive tardiness may also lead to a review of the participant’s standing.
● The participant will still be charged Extenuating Circumstances
● Exceptions may be made for medical emergencies, family emergencies, or other significant circumstances at the discretion of the Executive Board.
● Proper documentation may be required for consideration.

By participating in Service Paws, you agree to adhere to this attendance policy. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the program.

🧠 May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

At Service Paws, we recognize that healing isn’t always visible—and neither is strength. Many of the individuals we serve live with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions that can make everyday life feel overwhelming.

Our trained service dogs provide more than companionship—they offer grounding, comfort, and confidence during life’s most difficult moments.

This month, let’s break the silence, reduce the stigma, and honor every journey toward healing.
You’re not alone. 🐾💙
