At Service Paws in Layton, Utah, we believe that true healing begins with the bond between a person and their dog. Our mission is simple, yet profoundly life-changing: to provide professionally trained service dogs to low-income individuals, military veterans, and first respondersāincluding police officers, firefighters, and paramedicsāgiving them the gift of independence, confidence, and hope. š
Every dog we train carries a purpose greater than themselves. They stand beside those facing challenges like mobility impairments, diabetes, POTS, traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), PTSD, and other invisible disabilities, offering not just supportābut understanding, strength, and unconditional love.
Many of our incredible service dogs come from rescue backgrounds, themselves once overlooked or forgotten. Through our program, they are given a second chanceāa chance to heal, to trust again, and to become heroes in someoneās life. š¶ā¤ļø
Together, handler and dog embark on a journey of resilience, hope, and transformation, forging a bond that can never be broken.
At Service Paws, we believe that every limitation holds a hidden possibility, and every pawprint is a step toward a brighter, freer future. š¾āØ

Thatās why we offer affordable, income-based training programs designed to empower individuals and families through education, connection, and ongoing support.
Whether you’re a military veteran or a civilian, our tailored programs focus on building strong, effective partnerships between handlers and their dogs. Our Incredible Service Dogs: From Selection to Superstars!
Not every dog is cut out to be a service dogāand thatās okay! At Service Paws, each of our dogs goes through a comprehensive evaluation process before training ever begins. We carefully assess their temperament, physical health, and behavior to ensure they have the right foundation for a successful service career.
Once a dog is selected as a candidate, the real journey begins! Training kicks off with the basics, followed by structured milestones. Our dogs undergo regular evaluations at 30 days, 90 days, and throughout their training to ensure consistent progress and readiness for advanced tasks.
While weāre not breed-specific, we do recognize that some breeds naturally excel in service work due to their focus, adaptability, and drive. That said, every dog is considered based on individual meritāand many of our stars have come from unexpected backgrounds!
Join us in celebrating these remarkable animals as they transform lives, one paw at a time! š¾

Weāre here to helpāreach out by email, phone, or message us on Facebook. At Service Paws, you’re never alone on the journey.
At Service Paws, we recognize that healing isn’t always visibleāand neither is strength. Many of the individuals we serve live with PTSD, anxiety, depression, and other mental health conditions that can make everyday life feel overwhelming.
Our trained service dogs provide more than companionshipāthey offer grounding, comfort, and confidence during lifeās most difficult moments.
This month, let’s break the silence, reduce the stigma, and honor every journey toward healing.
You’re not alone. š¾š
